Falling more and more in love with capturing people’s lives. For so long I’ve half put myself out there but not fully. Because you know, risk of failure is such a big deterrent. But this year I made the jump to dedicate time and energy to doing what I love. So when I send out gallstones and I get responses like this, that little fear of who am I to think I can do this, just hushes up a tiny bit.

What I offer

I’ve been driving deep in to my own practice. I read an essay on traditions in photography and started looking closer at where I’m at and where I want to be.

It can be so hard to hone down an articulate description but here goes.

I capture family moments both in the style of documentary/street photography and fine art portraiture.

My weddings sit documentary/street photography style.

I have a pure love of black and white photography but shoot in a mixture of the two. What makes me choose one over the other when shooting? It’s the feel of the moment, the way my eye saw that moment and the thing that drew me to press the button.

This is such a simple snapshot of me and I plan to share more as I learn, experiment and play.

Sending galleries off to clients is still incredibly nerve wrecking but last night, after sending a gallery off I got this back:

Oh my god!!!! These are amazing!!!! Wow!

I put work out there all the time, here, amongst friends, clients etc and it’s like a mixture of pride, the fragile creative mind, the self doubts, the strive for becoming better, and the hope that those moments you capture resonate. These photos may be of other people most the time but when people love your art, you feel seen and that feels beyond the word good or validated. I guess it feels like calm.
